Freedom!

What is freedom? We associate freedom with our July 4th holiday. The colonists were under the strong arm of England. One little thing led to another and the little things became big things. The rest is history. The colonists obtained their freedom from an oppressive England. We have a great responsibility to preserve that freedom which our forefathers obtained for us at great cost over two centuries ago.

What is your life like today? Are you being oppressed by the "Free" lifestyle that we have here in the United States? We have more murders, rapes, pornography, drugs, alcoholism, divorces, teenage suicides, prisoners, espousal abuse, etc. per capita than any other nation. Also, we must consider abortion, infanticide and euthanasia in the formula of what it means to be "Free".

No nation can remain free very long when such life styles and practices become widely accepted in a community or by it's citizens as a whole. If you are like most Americans, you love the United States and want your country to be the best it can be. However, there is something that is more important that living in a "free" country.

Paul states in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 10:23, "...some things are permissible but are not beneficial or constructive..."(translation mine). Peter says in 1 Peter 2:16 "Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God (Jesus)". We should take heed of this statement made by the apostle Peter. What did Jesus do for us that we would want to "..live as servants of Jesus"?

The death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ has made us "Free" from sin and we can look forward to eternal life with Jesus. This eternal life comes with our acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Jesus said in John 8:31-32, "If you hold to my teaching, you are my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free". Are we really free? We are "Free" indeed, but only with Jesus Christ. The only real truth and love comes from Jesus Christ. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please, ask Him to come into your heart.

Study His word, talk to a Christian friend, and investigate why you should come to know Jesus. You may like to download the booklet "WHY JESUS" listed on the "Home Page". This booklet presents a quick and simple overview of Jesus Christ.

May the Love of Jesus be with you all.
