Jesus—married?
We at ProJesus find it best to use Scripture to verify Scripture and/or questions pertaining to Scripture. Many people have asked your question through the years (Was Jesus married?). Some anti-Christian and liberal Christian organizations say that Jesus was married. There is no evidence for this position. We know that Peter was married: Matt 8:14
“When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.” Some of the other apostles may also have been married, but, again there is no record.
There are seven verses, in Scripture, I will use to answer your question.
1. John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” Further evidence about Jesus is in:
2. John 14:9-10 “He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father”? Jesus is GOD!
3. Further in: 1 Peter 1:18-20 “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless , spotless Lamb of God.” Jesus (God the Son) was sinless. Whereas all humans sin.
4. Rom 5:12, 17 “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin , and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned”…….. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.”
5. God condemns sin, so He had to do something about it. Rom 8:3 “God…….sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.” Jesus could never have been the Savior of humankind if He were born into sin, because then His death on the cross would be for His own sins, not for ours alone. Only a totally sinless Savior could take our sins upon Himself and shall make our sins as white as snow: Isa 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, "Says the LORD, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow ; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
6. To restate what God the Father did: Eph 5:2-3 “Christ (God the Son) also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God the Father.”
7. If Jesus wasn’t married but had sexual relations, He would be a ‘fornicator’ and: Eph 5:3-5 “But fornication , and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becomes saints; nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks. For this you know for sure, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” If Jesus was a fornicator He would be a liar and Christianity would not be a religion any one should follow. However, Jesus is God, the Creator of all the universe and everything that is in it. He is further our Savior. All who follow Him, repent from their sins and believe that he is God, will have everlasting life with Jesus in heaven.
